Who are Bengali Mumbaikars? Well, any Bengali who lives in Mumbai is a Bengali Mumbaikar and part of this community blog. This blog is a platform for all Bengalis who lives in this city to share their views, opinions (and yes, we Bengalis are a very opinionated class), stories and experiences. Bengalis started moving out of Bengal from a very long time. We can read about Non-resident Bengali in the novels of Sarat Chandra and Bibudhitibushan. How can we forget our favourite Bengali hero Shankar from Chander Pahar, who moved to far off Africa. There is a term for non-resident Bengalis and they are called Probashi Bangali. Nowadays every third Bengali has become a probashi. Either they have moved abroad or else somewhere within India. This has also created a kind of transcendental homelessness among the community. This blog is an effort to reunite us with our roots. This is a home away from home. This blog is a journey to explore the Bengali community living in this maximum city.
